Today is Vasant Panchami, the Spring Festival. It is a festival of colors, love, brightness, cheer, kites, cupid, new learning and new beginning. And here I begin my journey into the blogging world.
In north India, Vasant / Basant Panchami is celebrated by people wearing yellow color to be with numerous flowers of the same color that bloom in the spring. People fly kites, perform Saraswati Pooja and young children begin their learning journey. It is an auspicious day and hence many weddings take place on this day (may be in olden days they were wise to get people married in spring, when cupid is in full action ;).
For me today is a day of waking up from inertia. Funnily, Merriam Webster dictionary defines inertia as ‘a property of the matter by which it remains at rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted upon by external force’. Google defines it as ‘a tendency to do nothing or remain unchanged’. Some synonyms of inertia are – inactivity, inaction, inactiveness, passivity, apathy, stagnation, dullness, sluggishness, lethargy, and so on.. The idea of starting a blog and penning my experiences, thoughts and reflections was simmering in mind for quite some time, but it was inertia that was holding me back. And today I decide to come out of it and celebrate life in spring, with a hope to take every season as spring.
Here are orchids from my balcony. Wish today and henceforth, there is spring everywhere and no war, no violence, no discrimination, no rigid boundaries of minds & countries. Happy beginning to you all too!
