Watched 3rd movie in 2 weeks which tells a life of rural, aspiring India. Lipstick…..had Bhopal in background, Bareilly…of course was set in Bareilly and Toilet…in a fictitious village/town called Madagaon.
It’s a social drama based on recent incident, when a newly wed bride came back to her maternal house because of no toilet facility in her marital house.
It weaves message of superstitions (marrying a man with an animal to ward off ill effect of Rahu), wrong religious beliefs (how can a house, tulsi and toilet be in one premises) and how women face harassment by men when they defecate in open. Again a strong woman leading character like many movies recently.
Seemed a little too long and preachy, but never the less, a good attempt of raising awareness and action on burning issues of women’s safety & dignity related directly to open defecation.
